DSD long-distance wireless network communication system

Project overview
The PLC and SCADA systems at West Kowloon No. 2 Pumping Station and Main Pumping Station No. 1 were originally connected by an outdoor network cable. The distance between the two sites made cable installation complex and costly, with difficult inspection and maintenance requirements.
Scope of work
WYE supplied and installed a long-distance wireless communication system between the pumping stations. Directional CPE units were installed at designated positions on the roof and in the electrical room of West Kowloon No. 2 Pumping Station, with corresponding equipment in the control room of Main Pumping Station No. 1.
Outcome
The upgrade retained the existing PLC, SCADA and corporate LAN architecture while reducing inter-site cabling work. The resulting communication link is reliable, easier to maintain and more flexible for future support.
Project record
From a wired network to a wireless link

01 · Before
Original wired network
Before the upgrade, the PLC and SCADA networks at the two sites depended on a long outdoor LAN cable, making installation and maintenance difficult.
02 · Installation
Install directional CPE units for point-to-point communicationEquipment was installed at the roof, electrical room and control room, followed by antenna alignment, network connection and communication testing.

03 · After
Wireless network after installation
After the upgrade, directional CPE units provide a point-to-point wireless link while retaining the existing PLC, SCADA and corporate LAN architecture at both sites.
- Less long-distance inter-site cabling
- Lower installation and construction cost
- More flexible ongoing maintenance
